Versailles 5-piece Queen Bedroom Set

The finish is smooth and rich looking, well beyond the price. The satin nickel metal is substantial in weight & appearance. The bed has a sturdy feel, stylish look, and excellent craftsmanship. (The top horizontal pieces of the headboard & footboard are 3/4" thick and rounded, and flare to about 1 1/4" thick at their bottom edges. The side edges become progressively wider, to about 2/1/4" wide near the bottom.) The headboard was extremely easy for two people to put together. The storage pieces (nightstand, chest, & dresser) all have a very upscale appearance, although the drawers are not extremely sturdy in their feel. (They may feel better once they are loaded.) I was not expecting dovetail joints, but it is hard to tell exactly how the joints are done. There are no visible staples. The nicely thick faces of the drawers appear to have a groove into which the side pieces were fitted. For our guest bedroom use, I have no concerns about them holding up to the wear they will get. The storage pieces were easy to assemble only because I took the advice of another overstock customer (see the reviews for single pieces of this set) who recommended buying longer bolts. I could not find the bolts locally & ordered them online. The specs for the bolts I used are: cap style (they tighten with an allen wrench), 1" long, 5/16" wide, 18 thread count per inch. Quantities needed were 4 for the nightstand, 8 for the dresser, and 7 for the chest.) I also bought extra 5/16" (hole size) washers & placed them between the wood & metal, which allowed everything to line up well and go together very easily. (The extra bolts and washers were my preference, rather than bending the metal to meet the wood, as reported being done by other reviewers.) Everything was extremely well protected by the manufacturer... lots of foam blocks, cardboard, and more. A few areas will need a bit of tocuh up. I refused delivery of one piece for significant obvious shipping damage. Working with Overstock for the replacement was very easy... no long hold times, the people were very pleasant, and the replacement came even quicker than the original order. Overall this is an excellent set & well worth the money!
